AT THE TIME of his death, Robin Williams had several films either awaiting release or in production.
Earlier this year, the actor won acclaim for his performance as a married man getting to grips with his homosexuality in Boulevard. The film screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, but has yet to secure a release or distributor. Speaking on his performance, Variety wrote:
Still, this is one of the kindest characters Williams has ever played, which makes his self-imposed turmoil — the consequence of not wanting to hurt anyone, least of all his wife — all the more tragic. Tapping into that same loneliness felt in “One Hour Photo” and “Good Will Hunting,” the actor projects a regret so deep and identifiable, viewers should have no trouble connecting it to whatever is missing in their own lives — whether those regrets are romantic, sexual, professional or spiritual.
Elsewhere, Williams will be seen reprising his role as Teddy Roosevelt in Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which will be released here on December 19th.
He will also be seen in Merry Friggin’ Christmas, a festive comedy in which he stars alongside Lauren Graham, Joel McHale and Candice Bergen. Directed by Tristram Shapeero (Community, Parks & Recreation, Workaholics), it has no release date as of yet.
Meanwhile, Williams also lent his voice to Terry Jones’ forthcoming sci-fi comedy Absolutely Anything. Starring Simon Pegg as a man given the powers to do “absolutely anything,” the film will feature four of the original Monty Python members, as well as Williams voicing Pegg’s trusty dog, Dennis.
Finally, it was reported earlier this year that Williams had provisionally signed on to star in a sequel to the beloved Mrs. Doubtfire. In light of the tragic news of his death, Variety is reporting that the sequel is now in doubt with sources telling the industry magazine that while no decision has been made, the project is unlikely to go ahead without its leading man.
